-spread from British Isles, particularly in Philly and NYC

-spread to Middle West with migration from Northeast

-and British migration helps spread it further

with Liberty and Union War (1868-76) a form of the game with simplified rules becomes common on battlefield

-aka "50 over cricket" which becomes sorta common

National Cricket League

-formed in 1914 by unifying various leagues

-consists of teams in United States of America, United Provinces of Buenaventura, and Boreal North America - Commonwealth of Canada, Laurentian Republic, and [insert whatever I decide Maritimes looks like here] and one team from Antillean Confederation

-teams in Divisions all fight in off-seasons for winner

-and winner fights for main league cup

-originated from British lyceum movement in late 1830s spearheaded by Richard Cobden

-to attract working class with amusement to adult education

-took mob football, added rules to make safer, added fields

-something like rugby, broadly speaking

Masonic football

-known as "football" in most countries, or "macey" where other such footballs are dominant


-attempt to stem violence by restricting it to foot game

-led by Freemasons who standardized it

Gymnastics

-prominent in the US thanks to German influence

-with Turnvereins being prominent across the US to such an extent that gymnastics is often known as "turning"

Ice sports

Rinkball

-also known as "hurling on ice"

-originated as adaptation in Laurentia and Canada of hurling to the ice

-no carrying balls on sticks as a result

-with first "true" rinkball game being between the University of Toronto and McGill in 1866
